JERSEY SHORE – 1/20/12

Yesterday, I had one of those moments. I imagine it is how Ronnie feels an hour after he reads a Marmaduke comic. Let’s call it an epiphany. Even though the evidence was right in front of me the whole time, for whatever reason, I couldn’t put it all together. And maybe this was already blatantly obvious to you, but it should be noted that I’m old and slow so it takes me a little longer sometimes.

I finally figured out why this season of Jersey Show has been so awful and why it’s not likely to get better any time soon.

Last week I wrote a little about Pauly’s spin off show, and how, against all odds, it actually seems like it might be a good idea now. Why? Because Pauly has been on fire so far this season. He’s funny, he’s charismatic, he’s banging girls at a Wilt Chamberlain pace…. it’s almost like the show was going out of its way to make Pauly as interesting as possible.

Then I spent the better part of the recap lamenting how boring Vinny is and how I couldn’t believe that the producers were wasting so much time on this ridiculous story line of him leaving. The dead giveaway should have been how Vinny said the word “anxiety” last week more often than the Hamburgler says the word “rubble.” It was only after I saw a story about Vinny plugging his new book, Control the Crazy: My Plan to Stop Stressing, Avoid the Drama and Maintain Your Inner Cool that I realized the first two episodes were produced solely to help Vinny sell books.

The epiphany: This season stinks because it has turned into a glorified infomercial.

  1. Alright well right after I stick up for you, you go and write this recap.. which I just dont get..
You’re utterly pissed off that they are using this show as an advertisements for these characters products/endorsement deals/spin offs and so on.. yet you use more than have your recap to advertise for me… jhob well done.. pot calling the kettle black if you ask me.. Annoying recap.

  2. Job well done, thanks for editing it for me. Yes, I am the queen at making typos, good thing I wasnt complaining about grammer and spelling. Glad you found it so hilarious though. Easy to get your jollies going though, eh.
